— Tex-Mex Restaurant Awards its Annual Leadership Development Scholarship —
ORLANDO, Fla. (September 6, 2012) ??Tijuana Flats employees get much more than just a paycheck and fun working atmosphere. The company strives to provide opportunities for personal and professional growth for its employees as often as possible.
Each year, General Managers are asked to submit the employee(s) they feel would be a great candidate to win the Tijuana Flats Leadership Development Scholarship. This year is the eighth year Tijuana Flats has provided deserving employees a $3,000 scholarship to be used toward college expenses. And, for the fifth time, Tijuana Flats has awarded three scholarship recipients in one year.
This year?s winners are:
Emily says she owes much of her success in school and in her community to Tijuana Flats and the core values working there has instilled in her. She?s studying occupational therapy and health sciences at the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. Emily was nominated because she knows the value of hard work and serves as a great example for other employees.
Carlee is a junior at Florida Atlantic University and plans to graduate in 2013 with a degree in Psychology. She works full time at the Cooper City location and has been assisting with opening new Tijuana Flats locations throughout South Florida. Carlee was nominated because of her dedication to the restaurant and her desire to use her experience and education to move up within the company.
Having worked for Tijuana Flats for nearly five years, Genesis is in her final year at Hillsborough Community College.?She volunteers regularly with Tijuana Flats? Just In Queso Foundation. Genesis? professionalism day in and day out, along with her commitment to teamwork and the community, earned her a nomination.
?Carlee, Emily and Genesis represent our brand and what we stand for every day, no matter it be through their smiling faces and positive attitudes in the restaurant, when they?re working to better the community or merely spending time with family and friends,? said Tijuana Flats Owner and CEO Brian Wheeler. ?All three were spoken very highly of by managers, peers and guests alike. This is just one way we can thank them for being such valuable members of the Tijuana Flats team.?
In order to receive the Tijuana Flats Leadership Development Scholarship, employees must have a minimum of one year of employment with the company and be enrolled full- or part-time in a state or community college.?In addition, nominees must be active in their school and community, demonstrate a solid work ethic and strong leadership skills, and possess the attitude and passion that furthers the Tijuana Flats mission.
