In addition, the Tijuana Flats Web site will place a link back to the winner's own personal site and provide each winner with opportunities to play at any of the Tijuana Flats restaurant openings and other events the restaurant hosts, when available.
"We created the "Rock Out" contest as a fun opportunity to give independent musical artists the chance to kick start their careers," said Tijuana Flats founder, Brian Wheeler. "By offering this contest, Tijuana Flats is able to continue to give back to the community by providing up and
coming artists the chance to gain national and international exposure through the Tijuana Flats' Web site. In return, we get awesome music to play on our site."
The Tijuana Flats "Rock Out With Your Guac Out!"Music Contest started in 2007 with little promotion and went on to receive almost 100 musical submissions, including entries from states where there isn' even a Tijuana Flats for miles, including Ohio and California. During the 2008 contest, Tijuana Flats received music from all over the world, including England, Malaysia and Indonesia.
"hen we started the Rock Out contest, we wanted to see if a contest like this would help undiscovered talents of the musical community," said Wheeler. "It worked. Some of our past winners have gone on to receive press for winning the contest, as well as an increase in performance opportunities and increases in their independent music sales."
