Tijuana Flats Set to Open on July 13 with Weeklong Events

ORLANDO, Fl- On Monday, July 13, hunger will meet its match as Tijuana Flats, famous for its fresh Tex-Mex food and its unique ambiance, opens its latest Polk County restaurant location at 4796 South Florida Ave. in Lakeland, Fla., located in the Publix Shopping Center at Lake Miriam.
The new location will feature Tijuana Flats' made-to-order menu, a 14-pump hot sauce bar and all the lively atmosphere patrons have come to expect from the Tex-Mex powerhouse. The 2,000-square-foot restaurant will accommodate indoor seating for 64 visitors, with seating for an additional 16 in the outdoor patio area. The interior will be brought to life by a brilliantly painted, futuristic, sci-fi mural.
This is the fourth Tijuana Flats location for franchisee Bob Cawthorn. His first, located in Casselberry, Fla. opened in 2005. In 2007, Cawthorn opened his second location in Winter Haven, Fla., followed by a 2008 opening in Kissimmee, Fla.
" When I first joined Tijuana Flats in 2005, the first place I wanted to put a location was in Lakeland," said Cawthorn. "We knew Lakeland was a great place to live and it was perfect for Tijuana Flats, it just took us a little while longer than expected to find the right location."
To commemorate the opening, Tijuana Flats is offering every guest who comes in during opening week a chance to win one of four $250 gift cards and other Tijuana Flats prizes.
Winners will be announced during the restaurant's "Rock Out With Your Guac Out!" party on Friday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m. and must be present to win. There is no purchase necessary to enter.

- Tuesday, July 14 - Tijuana Trio Day - Free order of chips, salsa, queso and guacamole for groups of three or more with entree' purchase (one per table)
- Wednesday, July 15 - Local Hero Day - all police, fire, EMT and city officials receive 50 percent off with proof of I.D.
- Thursday, July 16 - 20 percent of all proceeds go to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lakeland and Mulberry
- Friday, July 17 - "Rock Out!" Party - featuring giveaways, live music and gift card winners
